Barletta campaign releases poll memo

Release Date: Jun 16 2008

HAZLETON – U.S. Congressional candidate Hazleton Mayor Lou Barletta’s campaign today released a poll memo from Susquehanna Polling and Research that shows Mayor Barletta with a lead over 24-year incumbent Paul Kanjorski. It is also showed that only 39 percent of voters believe Kanjorski deserves re-election.

Vince Galko, campaign manger for Mayor Barletta, said:

We are very encouraged by these numbers. They mirror the response Mayor Barletta receives when he travels throughout the district. For a 24-year incumbent to have a 39-percent re-elect number is a clear indication that the voters of the 11th Congressional District are tired of Mr. Kanjorski’s antics and want real change. After 24 years representing a district, the incumbent should be loved, not overwhelmingly rejected.

These numbers give real hope to the citizens of northeastern Pennsylvania. Mr. Kanjorski’s Washington, D.C., ethics and morals do not represent the good people of this region. Voters understand you can’t change Washington by sending the same politicians back there time after time.

Lou Barletta’s candidacy offers voters a real choice in this election and this poll shows voters are choosing Lou Barletta’s leadership and courage over Paul Kanjorski’s record of taxpayer abuse.

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) paid $26,000 to do a poll for Congressman Kanjorski on March 6, 2008. I am sure their numbers paint the same picture for the incumbent.

Mr. Kanjorski will now be forced to spend his millions of his Washington, D.C., dollars on television in an attempt to cover up his decades of failing the taxpayers of northeastern Pennsylvania.

Thankfully, the voters will not allow Mr. Kanjorski to use his tainted money to buy this election. Thankfully, change is on the way.
