Independent could foil Dahlkemper if he gets on the ballot

Dr. Stephen Porter is trying to gain ballot access as an independent candidate for Congress in PA-3. Porter has run and lost two times as a candidate against Congressman Phil English as a registered Democrat. If Porter does succeed in his efforts to get on the ballot it will be a blow for Democratic candidate Kathy Dahlkemper.

Dahlkemper’s campaign obviously realizes Porter’s candidacy would be a blow to her efforts and they have launched an all out effort to make sure Porter does not get on the ballot. Porter needs 2,171 valid signatures to gain earn ballot status submitted a list of roughly 3,000 names. Dahlkemper’s team, lead by three Mercer County democrats, has challenged 2,000 of the 3,000 signatures filed by Porter.

While Dahlkemper’s campaign denies any direct involvement, the effort is being headed by her Mercer County campaign leader.
