Ribs by Mary

The Pennsylvania Democratic Committee sent out a fund raising email today talking about the upcoming 4th of July weekend.  Executive Director Mary Isenhour talks about her childhood memories of the 4th and shared her receipt for KC BBQ Ribs.  We are always looking for good BBQ receipt so thought we would share it with our readers.  We just hope this is not a Cindy McCain situation and find out its really from Betty Crocker's website.

Tribune receives six awards including Best Newspaper

The National Newspapers Publishers Association has awarded the Philadelphia Tribune as the best newspaper in the country.  The Tribune is the nation’s oldest black newspaper.  The paper took six of the ten awards including Best Newspaper, Best Special Edition, Best Business Section, Best Youth Section, Best Original Advertising and Best Editorial.

Specter’s former chief of staff supports Carney

Democratic Congressman Chris Carney will get to add another Republican supporter to his Republicans for Carney list.  David Urban, former chief of staff for Senator Arlen Specter will host a DC fundraiser for Carney on July 16th.

What ever happened to Gricar?

When Centre County District Attorney Ray Gricar disappeared in 2005 it made national news for about a week.  Then the issued just disappeared. Here we are three years later and there is no word on what could have happened to the former DA.  Now Montour County DA Robert Buehner, has accused current Center County DA Michael Madeira of ignoring certain leads in the case.

Close the books, a look ahead at FEC numbers

The second quarter is over and now we wait for the FEC numbers to be released.  But what should we expect?

In the 3rd district Phil English is facing off against challenger Kathy Dahlkemper.  In April English was showing $690k cash on had after raising $282k in the first quarter.   Dalhkemper raised $58k during the same period and had $71k on hand.  This is the make or break quarter for Dahlkemper.  She has been named as a candidate to watch on the DCCC Red-to-Blue program, but another $58k quarter will not get the job done.  For Dahlkemper to be taken seriously by the DCCC she will need to post a number that puts her with at least $250k cash on hand.

New biography videos introduce candidates

It used to be a candidate had 30 seconds on television to introduce himself to voters in his initial biography commercials. Now they have unlimited time to do so on their websites. Two candidates for Congress have done just that.

Fumo a victim of Rendell?

A week ago Ed Rendell had the heat turned up in all government office buildings to save money.  Then yesterday Senator Vince Fumo passes out on the state floor.  Could there be a connection?  Reporters and lobbyists alike say it feels like it has been warmer inside the Capitol.  Fumo says he has just been exhausted from budget work.

Johnny Mac is coming back

Republican John McCain will be in Pipersville (Bucks Co.) on Monday for a Town Hall meeting.  McCain will also be in doing a tour of Turbine Airfoil Designs Inc., an airplane parts manufacturing company in Harrisburg Monday morning.  Both events are events that were canceled earlier in the year.
