Congressional candidate Marina Kats: Campaign photoThe campaign of Marina Kats apparently didn't realize how vigilant the all-volunteer Wikipedia police force can be.
When the campaign edited her entry in a less-than-neutral way, the page was soon deleted from the online, user-edited encyclopedia, The Morning Call reports.
As of Friday morning, it was still not online.
Kats, a wealth Abington lawyer who is challening U.S. Rep. Allyson Schwartz (D-Abington) in the 13th Congressional District, told The Morning Call that she didn't even know she had a Wikipedia entry.
''I don't know who would be the idiot who would do that,'' she said of her campaign staff breaking the online encyclopedia's rules governing neutrality in editing.
Hardball host and possible Pa. U.S. Senate candidate Chris Matthews returns to the Ellen Show today. Will we see more of this? >

Allyson Schwartz's Wikipedia entry includes the following section:
"Allyson Schwartz is a member of the New Democrat Coalition and the chair of the New Democrat Coalition Taskforce on Health. In this position, she has actively pushed for the greater use of interoperable and secure electronic prescribing systems throughout the country in an attempt to decrease medical errors as well as costs and liability to providers, health systems and patients."
And . . .
"Political scientists noted her talent for fundraising. While most former state legislators raise comparitavely more money through PACs than individual donations, she raised $4,597,032 from individual donations and comparatively little ($558,376) in PAC donations."
Leaving aside the question of whether a "talent for fundraising" is a good qualification for Congress, is this really less biased that Kats' entry? Who do you suppose wrote it?
Kats
Sure, it was the overzealous and out-of-control staff again.
And does anyone believe a person running for Congress has not checked Wikipedia for an entry? Or googled herself?
