Clinton, Obama campaigns still owe hundreds of thousands in Pa.

The presidential primary may be history, but the Democratic candidates didn't close out their tabs when they left.

Sens. Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama both owe substantial sums to Pennsylvania businesses, according to a review of FEC filings by The Tribune-Review.

Of the two campaigns, Clinton's owes more money in the state that revived her candidacy in April.

She owes $206,523.51 to businesses and individuals in Pennsylvania, the Tribune-Review reports.

Obama has his own debts in Pennsylvania, with $154,000 in bills to pay. Most of that is owed to a Philadelphia media firm, but Clinton's debt is more widespread, leading some to support her staying in the race -- even if it's just so she can pay them back.

"I want her to stay in the race, at this point, to continue getting contributions," Stephen Bledsoe, who owns a pizza shop in suburban Philadelphia that provided catering services to the campaign, told the Tribune-Review.

The campaign owed Bledsoe $11,000, but paid off half that debt recently.

"I was concerned a week ago, but the check I got alleviated that," he told the Tribune-Review. "I'm confident they're going to repay me."

At the end of April, the Clinton campaign was almost $20 million in debt, almost 10 times the red ink Obama faced.

Fundraising has become increasingly difficult for Clinton as her prospects for winning the nomination have waned. While on the stump, she has increasingly taken to imploring supporters to visit her website and contribute.
