Democrats gather in Camp Hill this weekend

Democratic Party committeewoman Sandy Wolfe will deliver a message at this weekend's State Committee meeting: It's not all about John McCain vs. Barack Obama.

"Yes, we want the national ticket, but we're the state committee," said Wolfe, a Mechanicsburg resident. "We've never won attorney general, and I think John (Morganelli) stands a good shot."

She was referring to the Northampton County district attorney's attempt to unseat the Republican incumbent, Attorney General Tom Corbett.

Wolfe and Democrats from across the state will gather at the Radisson Hotel in Camp Hill on Friday and Saturday to elect national committee members and plan strategy for state races.

And despite Wolfe's heeding, they're sure to talk plenty about the Illinois senator's chances against McCain and his contentious victory over U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y.

Whether Clinton supporters will line up behind Obama is likely to dominate most conversations.

Wolfe, a Clinton backer, acknowledges some feelings were hurt. But she says the party will rally behind Obama.

"There's gonna be some tears right at the beginning," she said. "But what can we do? If we want to see the Democratic agenda move forward, we're going vote for Barack Obama."

The meeting begins 1 p.m. Friday. It concludes with a general meeting noon Saturday.
